blog ethics
So I've got a question for you: if someone comes on your blog and flames you in the comments and then asks for the comments to be deleted, should you delete them or let her/him stew in her/his own juices?

Well, my personal opinion is to let them squirm (it's my Baptist roots showing), but the Methodist in me leans toward grace toward the stupid one who writes without thinking.
Especially since that seems to be me most of the time! :)
If they got caught dipping in your hot salsa, I'd say they need to feel the heat, so they can see the light.
Or something like that.

The blog world needs to live by the same rules of social engagment as the rest of society, and there needs to be consequences. Let them soak in it, block them from your blog and then spam their email account by entering it on every home loan site you can find.
Then pray for them and hope they come to repentence.
I wish that it wasn't possible to delete things on the internet...like it's just always out there...like our words...
It's always possible to post a comment apologizing afterwards...I know, I've had to do this b/c of stupid comments before!!
Perhaps they can publically own up to their error. Making amends is a good thing. Forgivenss abounds, but if one is going to be an ass then admit that you were and ass and will try to be better in the future.
Good post!

I say you should call the person up, buy them a cup of coffee and talk about the issue. Maybe your thinking AND his thinking on the issue are BOTH too far one way. It's funny where a conversation will sometimes lead us. And in the scheme of life, it probably isn't that important anyway.
Better yet, call that person, make THEM buy the coffee and have a chat.
Oh yeah, and drop the post...
Words are important and if people want to disagree with you, they can but they need to do it in a gracious manor. You have the right to publish their comments if they want to rip you a good one. God bless them, but let them know that their words will be on your site to be viewed by the rest of us who are interested in your thoughts along with their gracious or not so gracious words. Keep on Keeping On Tony!

My Pastor loves to say:
"Justice is Good, but Mercy is Better. Mercy Triumphs over Justice"
Cool, eh?
