Prayers...
...needed for Stan Grenz, theologian of the emerging church, who is fighting for his life following a massive brain aneurism.
[UPDATE: Stan died at about 4am this morning. This is truly a loss for all of us who desire progressive evangelical theology to thrive. Even as we grieve his loss and mourn with his family, we can be thankful that he left behind so much rich theological work. Godspeed, Stan.]

Wow. I was just thinking the other day how great his session on Scripture was during the learning community in San Diego...Our prayers will be with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Grenz wasn't only a theologian conversant with Emergent, but he was one of the few theologians holding the evangelical ship from tipping irrevocably into fundamentalism. His voice was much needed to counter the Millard Ericksons, D.A. Carsons, and Al Mohlers of the world. He has left a great hole that will take much to fill.
He used his time well and glorified God in his work.
I wonder if this stress involving his best friend (if it's the same Stan Grenz from Vancouver) might have helped cause it.
I just happened across your page only to find that Stan died. I'm merely spoken with him a few times but feel like I've benefited so much from his writings.
Maining if I could say one thing about Stan that you could know about him only by spending some a short time around him--Stan Grenz was a follower of Jesus.
