The church is emergent. It cannot not emerge. It will emerge as a spiritual community or it will emerge as a chain of museums, mostly honoring an era of bad architecture, but it will emerge.
What I hope the emergent church looks like rather than a new way for Protestants to protest is fresh, ahead of the game, dynamic and unique communities eager to create more unique commuities...thereby heading off further protest. God-loving, people-loving, culturally relevant, historically sensitive colletions of people who believe God's greatest desire is to redeem the world...yeah, something like that.
